If the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers were riding high off their 75-25 takedown of Varsity Opponent on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Montezuma-Cortez was dealt a 64-31 loss at the hands of Navajo Prep on Saturday. Montezuma-Cortez was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Navajo Prep apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2015.
Loss or not, Montezuma-Cortez got some senior leadership from Savannah Haselroth who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals and Markylla Jones who scored 6 points along with 14 rebounds. The matchup was Haselroth's third in a row with at least ten points.
Montezuma-Cortez now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Navajo Prep, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Montezuma-Cortez will be playing in front of their home fans against San Juan at 6:00 a.m. on December 12th. As for Navajo Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Penasco at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday.
