Warsaw and NorthWood are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Warsaw came out on top against Plymouth on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Tigers put the hurt on the Pilgrims/Rockies with a sharp 8-2 victory. Considering the Tigers have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Kellan Bailey made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 12 contests.

In other pitching news, Zac Miller looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Grady Nelson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Logan Kim was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs.
Meanwhile, NorthWood won against Culver Academies on Saturday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Panthers' pitcher stepped up to hand Wawasee a 10-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.
Like Warsaw, NorthWood also got a great game from a two-way player: Mason Bogan. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Bogan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, NorthWood got a big performance out of Brody Rondeau, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double was Rondeau's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Nathan Shrock, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Warsaw has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for NorthWood, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.
Both Warsaw and NorthWood just can't seem to miss. The Tigers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like NorthWood struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Warsaw's way against NorthWood in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Warsaw made off with a 12-6 victory. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
