The South Sumter Raiders had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 13-12 photo finish over Dunnellon. That result was just more of the same for these two, as South Sumter also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Taylor Keiler threw for 72 yards on only six passes. Denzel Mcdonald was his top target, picking up 26 receiving yards. On the ground, Tyrese Keiler rushed for 104 yards.
Dylan Donahoe and Chris Henry certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Donahoe rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown, while Henry rushed for 82 yards on only nine carries.
South Sumter's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. As for Dunnellon, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
South Sumter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Dunnellon will be playing in front of their home fans against Zephyrhills at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Zephyrhills is ranked 117th, while Dunnellon is ranked 121st).
