Regents extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 5-5. They took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Temple Christian Crusaders. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Matthew Amalfitano put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Amalfitano was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Amalfitano wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Jamison, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Jamison is becoming a predictor of Regents' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Another was Levi Trivette, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
As for Temple Christian, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games.
Like Regents, Temple Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Blake Cash. He struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Cash was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, Jacob Wallace was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Jace Reno was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Looking ahead, Regents will host Christian Heritage Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Temple Christian, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Timberlake Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
