Basketball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Warsaw's Winning Streak

It was fun while it lasted, but Warsaw's undefeated season came to an end after six games on Saturday. They fell just short of the Fishers Tigers by a score of 54-51. While losing is never fun, Warsaw can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Fishers is ranked first).

Fishers' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jason Gardner led the charge by going 7 for 12 on his way to 17 points and six assists. The game was Gardner's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Zachary, who posted 11 points and six assists.

Having lost for the first time this season, Warsaw fell to 6-1. As for Fishers, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Warsaw didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-44 defeat against Jeffersonville on the 28th. As for Fishers, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 85-80 win against Greenfield-Central on the 28th.
