The defense contributed on the scoring end for
Mott (Warren, Mich.) on Saturday, totaling 12 points as the Marauders bested Utica (Mich.) 42-7.
The Marauders were up 15-7 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Vondale Kelley in the second quarter.
Mott expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored three times in the third, including once on a
Daveon Dorsey touchdown run.
Austin Ross was the top performer for the Warren school. The junior quarterback caught one touchdown. He has now scored two touchdowns on the season.
The Chieftains' lone touchdown came on a 10-yard pass in the first quarter.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Marauders came away with a 46-3 victory.
The loss was the fourth in a row for Utica. With the win Mott extended its winning streak to four games.
Mott (4-0) will play a non-conference game against Fraser next week, while Utica (0-4) will take on L'Anse Creuse also in a non-conference game.
