The Buckhorn Bucks will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Guntersville Wildcats at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Buckhorn is ranked 80th, while Guntersville is ranked 71st).
Last Wednesday, Buckhorn was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-47 to Pell City. Buckhorn has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Guntersville beat Hale County 52-48 on Wednesday.
Buckhorn has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Guntersville, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
Everything came up roses for Buckhorn against Guntersville in their previous meeting back in January of 2017 as the squad secured a 47-19 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Buckhorn since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
