Baseball Recap: Northside Christian Takes a Loss

The Northside Christian Mustangs came up short against the Loyola Academy Ramblers on Saturday and fell 9-6. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ashton Cox was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Northside Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 8-13 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Danilo Soto made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Northside Christian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 8-13 otherwise.

Northside Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Loyola Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

Coming up, Northside Christian will square off against Lakeside Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Loyola Academy, they have already played their next contest, a 3-3 tie against Marmion on the 13th.
