Basketball Recap: Johan Camacho Key Part of a Team Effort in Bears Win

Bowie won the last time they faced Del Valle and things went their way on Saturday too. The Bowie Bears secured a 64-60 W over the Del Valle Conquistadores. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Bowie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Johan Camacho led the charge by dropping a double-double on 26 points and 21 boards. Camacho is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last 13 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Rodriguez, who posted 20 points and four steals.

Bowie smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Del Valle lost, don't look at Byan Mei. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 11 on his way to 15 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kobe Saenz, who had 13 points and three steals.

Bowie is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Del Valle, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.

Bowie will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Anthony at 6:30 p.m. on January 7th. As for Del Valle, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-61 win against Hanks on the 3rd.
