GIBSONTON, Fla. -
Durant (Plant City, Fla.) kept up a steady attack all game long to beat
East Bay (Gibsonton, Fla.), 28-3, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Jamarlon Hamilton touchdown run in the second quarter, the Cougars led 11-3 at the half.
Durant expanded its lead to 22 points entering the fourth quarter. DHS scored two times in the third, including once on a
Chris Atkins touchdown run.
With the win the Plant City school extended its winning streak to eight games. The Cougars defeated the Wolves 38-28 last week.
Durant's most effective player was Hamilton. The senior ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 13 touchdowns on the season.
The Indians'
Mike Brown played well. The sophomore kicked one field goal.
DHS went into the matchup giving up only 7.7 points per game. The three points that East Bay ended with were well below its average of 22.0 coming into the game.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Cougars came away with a 45-28 victory.
The loss comes after East Bay defeated Plant City 24-12 last week.
East Bay (3-5) goes up against Brandon in a 7A District 8 game matchup next week, while Durant (8-0) locks horns with Riverview also in a 7A District 8 game.
