Parkview extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 20 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-12. They came up short against the Deerfield Demons, falling 12-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Demons this season, with their most recent loss being a 12-2 defeat two weeks ago.
Parkview saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Phillips, who went 1-for-2 with one triple. That triple was Phillips' first of the season.
As for Deerfield, they pushed their record up to 9-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.
On Deerfield's side, Addi Haas spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits. Haas has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Schears, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Mia Haberkorn was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Coincidentally, Parkview and Deerfield will both be playing Palmyra-Eagle the next time they take the field. The Demons will host the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Vikings will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
