Basketball Recap: Will Harlin and Marcus Campbell Secure Win for South Effingham

South Effingham lost to Southeast Bulloch back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The South Effingham Mustangs walked away with a 54-46 win over the Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets. That eight point margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.

Leading South Effingham to victory were Marcus Campbell and Will Harlin. Campbell went 5 for 11 on his way to 12 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals, while Harlin posted 13 points along with five boards and four steals. Campbell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinton Williams, who had three points and six steals.

South Effingham smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games.

South Effingham's record now sits at 3-7. As for Southeast Bulloch, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Effingham and New Hampstead will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in New Hampstead's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests. Southeast Bulloch will take on Johnson in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Johnson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.4 points per game this season.
