Sandpoint had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 5-17 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Lewiston Bengals 14-12. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Bengals on Saturday, they had to take a 9-8 defeat.

Marlee Stevens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and six unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She also set a new season-high mark in runs with three.
On the hitting side, Sandpoint saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Wilson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave Wilson a new career-high. Another was Baylie Hindle, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.
As for Lewiston, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 11-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since March 27th.
On Lewiston's side, Jenna Barney was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Barney was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
In other batting news, Ava Thorson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Anna Ready was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Coming up, Sandpoint will welcome Post Falls at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lewiston, they will take on Lakeland at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
