Richmond is 8-1 against Winchester Community since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Red Devils will look to defend their home field against the Golden Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Richmond comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Friday just wasn't the day for Richmond's offense. They lost 19-0 to Centerville on Friday.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Winchester Community). They blew past Randolph Southern 22-2 on Monday. The Golden Falcons haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Macy Grasse and Lizzie Frazier made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Grasse tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Frazier tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Grasse got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Frazier got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs Frazier has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Anevicia Ramos was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Madisen Hodson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Winchester Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Winchester Community pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Richmond, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Richmond skirted past Winchester Community 7-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Red Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
