Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Firth). They blew past the West Jefferson Panthers 24-4 on Tuesday. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.
Darrell Vasquez and Quinton Hall made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Vasquez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hall pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Vasquez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Hall scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances. Firth is undefeated when Vasquez posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Grant Vasquez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Tonk Perry, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Firth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Jefferson only managed four hits.
Firth's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for West Jefferson, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Firth will challenge North Fremont at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Jefferson, they will face off against Challis at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
