White Oak hasn't had much luck against Dixon recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Vikings will host the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (White Oak has four straight wins, Dixon has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
White Oak proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 11) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Swansboro 9-7. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 13, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Alyssa Carkhuff made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gracie Tompkins, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jenna Banks, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Dixon fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Richlands on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by just one run.
Kailei Dawsey spent all 9.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up ten Ks.
Dixon's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for White Oak, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
White Oak came out on top in a nail-biter against Dixon in their previous meeting on Saturday, sneaking past 7-6. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
