They took their contest at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 70-25 victory over Metrolina Christian Academy. Given Concord Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Metrolina Christian Academy is ranked 309th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Concord Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Janiya Byrd out in front who scored 20 points along with five assists and five steals. That's the first time this season that Byrd scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Justice Alexander, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Concord Academy pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.83 points. As for Metrolina Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord Academy will face off against Northside Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Northside Christian Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for Metrolina Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Hickory Grove Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Hickory Grove Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Friday.
