The American Heritage Stallions will head out on the road to challenge the Jupiter Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully American Heritage focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
American Heritage has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to Westminster Academy on the road by a decisive 67-48 margin. While losing is never fun, American Heritage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Westminster Academy is ranked eighth).
Despite the defeat, American Heritage saw an underclassman step up: Brendan Gerard scored 20 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Burrow, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Jupiter waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They strolled past Coral Glades with points to spare, taking the game 81-63. Jupiter's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
American Heritage has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-4 record this season. As for Jupiter, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.
American Heritage skirted past Jupiter 54-52 in their previous meeting back in February of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for American Heritage since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
