Laurel Highlands came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Oakland Catholic, falling 14-4.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth Forward waltzed into their contest on Monday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Oakland Catholic. Considering the Warriors have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Berlyn Holibaugh made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Holibaugh was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addy Nigut, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Resnik, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Elizabeth Forward hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.
Elizabeth Forward's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Laurel Highlands, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Laurel Highlands came up short against Elizabeth Forward when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 3-0. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
