Baseball Recap: Tecumseh Triumphs

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Tecumseh ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past the Tell City Marksmen 12-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Braves have posted against the Marksmen since May 6, 2017.

Liam Medley looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

At the plate, Braydon Long and Wyatt Huddleston did most of the damage at the plate: Long went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles, while Huddleston went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three stolen bases gave Long a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Thomas Pemberton, who went 3-for-6 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Tecumseh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Tecumseh and bumps their season record up to 7-15-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Tell City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tecumseh will take on Barr-Reeve at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Braves' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tell City, they will square off against Crawford County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolfpack have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.15 runs per game on average), something the Marksmen will no doubt try to take advantage of.
