The Ash Fork Spartans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Seligman with a sharp 46-23 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Ash Fork.
Ash Fork's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gracie Staples, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Staples continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Vazquez, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Ash Fork's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-12. As for Seligman, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ash Fork won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Basis at 5:30 p.m. on January 4th. Hopefully Basis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 two weeks ago. As for Seligman, they will head out on the road to face off against Fredonia at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fredonia's defense has only allowed 27.5 points per game this season, so Seligman's offense will have their work cut out for Seligman.
