It was a good run, but the Stratton Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak dating back to last season on Saturday. They fell just short of Colby by a score of 44-41. While losing is never fun, Stratton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 47th in Colorado, while Colby is ranked tenth in Kansas).
Despite the loss, Stratton still got an impressive performance from Sedonia Isenbart, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Isenbart scored a full 48.8% of Stratton's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Isenbart, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Stratton's loss was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-1. As for Colby, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stratton will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Briggsdale at 3:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024. Hopefully Briggsdale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Saturday. Colby's road trip will continue as they head out to face Russell at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th.
