The Gulliver Prep Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Calvary Christian Academy Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Gulliver Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Gulliver Prep beat TERRA Environmental 49-38. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Gulliver Prep.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gulliver Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nicole Quevedo, who scored 17 points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Quevedo. Caitlen Dauphin was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Calvary Christian Academy came up short against Boca Raton Christian on Monday and fell 56-48. Calvary Christian Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Taryn Wakefield, who scored 14 points. She scored a full 29.2% of Calvary Christian Academy's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brianna Staples, who scored 12 points.
Gulliver Prep has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Thursday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Gulliver Prep have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Calvary Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 29.7 rebounds per game. Given Gulliver Prep's sizeable advantage in that area, Calvary Christian Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
