Michigan City is 0-5 against Mishawaka since May of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Wolves will take on the Cavemen at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
If Michigan City beats Mishawaka with nine runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Wolves had just enough and edged out Marquette Catholic 9-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.

Jacob Hazel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Hazel was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Michigan City: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-19 otherwise.
In other batting news, Zaire McKinney was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Keegan Cowgill was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Mishawaka earned a 9-5 victory over Mishawaka Marian on Saturday.
Noah Deeds looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Will Hartzke, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Mishawaka's win bumped their record up to 17-10. As for Michigan City, their victory bumped their record up to 9-19.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Michigan City has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mishawaka struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Michigan City might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from Mishawaka in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
