Basketball Recap: Socrates Academy Skates Past the Fletcher School with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Socrates Academy's strategy against The Fletcher School on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Socrates Academy Owls blew The Fletcher School Falcons out of the water with an 83-44 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-26.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Socrates Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than JP Polburn, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Polburn is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Dom Vazquetelles, who went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points and five steals.

Socrates Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory got Socrates Academy back to even at 2-2. As for The Fletcher School, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Socrates Academy and Covenant Classical will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for The Fletcher School, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against UR Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. UR Academy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 190 points over their last three contests.
