District 10 Region 1 A recap October 1, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to West Middlesex, who defeated 118th ranked Mercer, 17-14. Trey Staunch threw for 126 yards and ran for 34 yards in the win.
Farrell moved up to 181 from 258 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in District 10 Region 1 A. The Steelers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Sharpsville 7-6.
The Big Reds' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Eric Lucich contributed 86 yards. Dillon Fair helped West Middlesex's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 40 yards.
Lucich was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 86 yards on 14 carries as West Middlesex bested the Mustangs. Teammate Staunch added to the ground attack by rushing for 34 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Ed Roberson's team's Staunch and Fair have proven to be a lethal combination. Staunch has thrown for 547 yards this season, while Fair, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 22 catches for 270 yards. Lakeview's Blake Reddick leads the league in rushing yards with 757.
As it stands, the Blue Devils are in fifth, while the Big Reds are in first.
West Middlesex extended the longest winning streak in District 10 Region 1 A this week by beating Mercer, 17-14. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Big Reds.
