Two dominant guards in Soraya Jokhan and Tierra Coleman are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Winter Springs Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wekiva Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Winter Springs suffered their biggest loss since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. Their rough 59-39 loss to Oviedo might stick with them for a while. Winter Springs has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Wekiva's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The match between Wekiva and Windermere Prep wasn't particularly close, with Wekiva falling 47-28.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Senaia Asanya, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals. Coleman was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Winter Springs bumped their record down to 3-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Wekiva, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Winter Springs against Wekiva in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 66-35 win. Does Winter Springs have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wekiva turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
