The Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots lost against the Wessington Springs Spartans back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Hitchcock-Tulare took a hard 49-35 fall against Wessington Springs. While losing is never fun, Hitchcock-Tulare can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Wessington Springs is ranked 35th).
Hitchcock-Tulare lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cambree Hoekman, who scored 14 points. Isabel Gilbert was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Hitchcock-Tulare's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Wessington Springs, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hitchcock-Tulare will face off against Aberdeen Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hitchcock-Tulare is facing Aberdeen Christian at the right time seeing as Aberdeen Christian is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Wessington Springs, they will head out on the road to take on Kimball/White Lake at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
