Covington has gone 9-1 against Riverside recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Buccs will be playing at home against the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
While Covington's win against Bradford wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Buccs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-11 victory over the Railroaders on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Buccs have posted since March 27th.
Whitney Burns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and seven unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Kylie Palsgrove was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Hartwig, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Covington hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Riverside came into Monday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Troy Christian 13-1 on Monday. Considering the Pirates have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Riley Dillon made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Brook Hunkler and Jayden Hoffer did most of the damage at the plate: Hunkler fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-2, while Hoffer went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Emilee Robinson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Riverside's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Covington, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Covington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Riverside struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Covington was able to grind out a solid victory over Riverside in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 8-5. Do the Buccs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
