Superior is on a five-game streak of home losses, the Redmen a 13-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Superior Wildcats will take on the Smith Center Redmen at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Superior struggled with assists on Monday (the Titans had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Superior was the victim of a tough 60-35 defeat at the hands of the Titans. Superior has not had much luck with the Titans recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite their loss, Superior saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Colten Butler, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. Butler hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Mason Korb was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Smith Center was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 48-43 to the Monarchs.
Superior's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Smith Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
Superior didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Redmen when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 49-43 win. Will Superior repeat their success, or do the Redmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
