The La Joya Coyotes were the 37-29 winner over the Edinburg North Cougars when they last played one another on January 5th, but their luck changed this time around. La Joya fell 38-26 to Edinburg North on Tuesday. La Joya has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Edinburg North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaylah Lozano, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Yaneth Salinas, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
La Joya has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-26 record this season. As for Edinburg North, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-16.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Joya will take on Pharr-San Juan-Alamo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Pharr-San Juan-Alamo is ranked 1104th, while La Joya is ranked 1105th). As for Edinburg North, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Mission at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th.
