DeLaSalle has gone 7-1 against St. Paul Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. Chanhassen hit DeLaSalle with a five-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Islanders came up short against the Storm, falling 12-1. The Islanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
DeLaSalle saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amy Kaisaki, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Paul Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let Edison get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Friday. The Minutemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 13 runs or more this season.
Jonny LeRoux made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 5-for-6 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (four).
In other pitching news, Anna Kroetsch looked comfortable as she went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Noe Christensen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Brooklyn Martin was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.
St. Paul Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.
St. Paul Central's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for DeLaSalle, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6-1.
Everything went DeLaSalle's way against St. Paul Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as DeLaSalle made off with an 18-2 victory. Will the Islanders repeat their success, or do the Minutemen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
