The Meadow Bridge Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a rough 47-21 defeat at the hands of Independence. Meadow Bridge was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 25-4.
Meadow Bridge lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Riley Roberts, who scored seven points along with three steals. Roberts hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Abby Cooper, who scored two points.
Independence's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lacey Goodson led the charge by scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Goodson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Harmony Mills, who scored eight points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
Meadow Bridge's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Independence, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.
Meadow Bridge will be playing at home against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Independence, they will head out on the road to challenge the Tide at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sherman is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
