The Park School of Buffalo Pioneers lost against the St. Mary's Lancers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Park School of Buffalo fell 56-47 to St. Mary's. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as The Park School of Buffalo came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while St. Mary's is ranked 435th).
Despite the loss, The Park School of Buffalo saw an underclassman step up: Brandon Singleteary scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Brown, who scored seven points.
Even though they lost, The Park School of Buffalo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
St. Mary's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Israel Wilson, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Will Szablewski, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
The Park School of Buffalo bumped their record down to 6-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for St. Mary's, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
The Park School of Buffalo will head out on the road to take on St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Mary's, they will be playing at home against Bishop Timon-St. Jude at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Bishop Timon-St. Jude's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
