The Rhodes Rams will take on the Harvey Red Raiders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rhodes has three straight victories, Harvey has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Rhodes gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Lincoln West as they made off with a 15-3 win. Fans of the Rams have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Jason Castillo made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Castillo was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jesus Cardenas was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. David Garner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Harvey's offense. They fell just short of Orange by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday.
Harvey's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Rhodes, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
Harvey's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rhodes hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .382. It's a different story for Harvey, though, as they've only averaged .111. Will they be able to contain Rhodes' hitters?
Rhodes got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 against Harvey by a conclusive 13-1 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Red Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
