Blacksburg extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 12-6. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Cave Spring Knights. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-8 back in April.

Sam Szefc made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Soma Kato was incredible, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Keefer Caldwell, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Blacksburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.
As for Cave Spring, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-9. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only one runs.
On Cave Spring's side, Gavin Young and Tyler Harrison did some serious damage despite the final result: Young went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Harrison went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Urgo, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blacksburg will welcome Hidden Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Cave Spring, they will challenge Magna Vista at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
