It was a good run, but the Verdugo Hills Dons unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 78-70 to Grant. Verdugo Hills has struggled against Grant recently, as their match on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Verdugo Hills lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alexander Martinez, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Georges Abdulnour was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds.
Leading Grant to victory were Omree Bentov and WILLIAM OVERTON. Bentov scored 21 points along with eight rebounds, while OVERTON dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Bentov's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Minnoy, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Verdugo Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Grant, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Verdugo Hills and Poly will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 24th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Grant won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Monroe at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Monroe is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
