The West Craven Eagles put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past East Carteret with points to spare, taking the game 54-40. For West Craven, this counts as revenge for the 70-41 defeat East Carteret walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
West Craven's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Torvonyah Heggie, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. The matchup was Heggie's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Shalawn Yates was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
West Craven pushed their record up to 10-0 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for East Carteret, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Craven will square off against Farmville Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Farmville Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 204th, while West Craven is ranked 72nd). As for East Carteret, they will head out on the road to face off against Northside - Pinetown at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
