The Wakefield Wolverines will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cleveland Rams at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wakefield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Saturday.
Wakefield had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three. They came out on top against Sanderson by a score of 50-43. Given Wakefield's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Sanderson is ranked 146th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Syncere Burnette, who scored 14 points along with 9 assists and 5 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Wakefield's points. Another player making a difference was Taj Boone-Chambers, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cleveland pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Riverside-Durham by a score of 67-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Wednesday (57), Cleveland still had to take the loss.
Their wins bumped Wakefield to 3-0 and Sanderson to 3-1.
