The Jesuit Tigers had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. Everything went their way against Hillsborough as Jesuit made off with a 28-7 victory. Given Jesuit's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Hillsborough is ranked 134th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jesuit to victory, but perhaps none more so than Will Griffin, who threw for 291 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Gary Givens III, who picked up 94 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Jesuit's win was their fourth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 8-2. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-1 Bishop Verot and 9-1 Armwood (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.5% over those games). As for Hillsborough, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Jesuit will look to defend their home field on Friday against Tampa Catholic at 7:30 p.m. Tampa Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 128 points over their last three contests. Hillsborough does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
