Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for South Loup, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a hard 33-18 fall against Sandhills/Thedford on Friday. South Loup's loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
South Loup's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Trey Connell, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns, and Cache Gracey who picked up 78 receiving yards and a touchdown. Gracey was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 64 yards.
It was another big night for Kyle Cox, who rushed for 182 yards and three touchdowns. Cox is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Maurice Robinson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
South Loup's loss dropped their record down to 11-1. As for Sandhills/Thedford, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.
South Loup does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sandhills/Thedford is on the road again on November 20th and play against Wynot at 2:45 p.m. on November 20th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Wynot is ranked sixth, while Sandhills/Thedford is ranked second).
