Kokomo and Richmond are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Kokomo Wildkats will head out on the road to square off against the Richmond Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Kokomo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Wednesday.
Kokomo posted their biggest victory since December 15, 2023 on Wednesday. They really took it to Taylor for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-34 victory at home. Given Kokomo's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Taylor is ranked 386th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Ma'Kaela Drake, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aviannah Pollard, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Richmond, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-44 loss to Harrison on Saturday. Richmond has not had much luck with Harrison recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Kokomo has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Richmond, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
Kokomo strolled past Richmond in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 53-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kokomo since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
