Morrice has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Genesee Wolves at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Morrice gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past New Standard Academy 60-24 at home.
Aubrey Rogers continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. She is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Payton Goodine was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Genesee waltzed into their contest on Friday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They took down International Academy 55-38. 55 seems to be a good number for Genesee as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Genesee found their leader in underclassman Averie Zinn, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 steals. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which Zinn has scored at least a third of Genesee's points. Another player making a difference was Selena Garcia, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Morrice's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Genesee, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Tuesday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Rogers and Zinn. Rogers has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 20.8 points, 5.8 steals, and 1.1 blocks. For her part, Zinn has averaged 29 points, 8.8 steals, and 1.2 blocks.
Everything went Morrice's way against Genesee when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as Morrice made off with a 55-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Morrice since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
