Bethel-Tate is 2-8 against Williamsburg since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Bethel-Tate is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Bethel-Tate proved they can win big on Monday (they won by seven) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over East Clinton. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Astros: they've now won seven in a row.
Kaylee Randolph spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maddy Harness, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Williamsburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy on Saturday. Considering the Wildcats have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Williamsburg also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Gracie Graves gave up a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. Graves has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kaityln Pollitt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Kaylynn Anderkin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Williamsburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy struck out 11 times.
Williamsburg pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Bethel-Tate, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Bethel-Tate came up short against Williamsburg in their previous matchup last Friday, falling 11-8. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
