Poly is a perfect 5-0 against Citrus Valley since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Poly Bears will take on the Citrus Valley Blackhawks at 1:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Poly's tournament run continued when they took on Indio on Monday. Poly blew past Indio 15-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.
Cassandra Ayala was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Ayala was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Poly let Honesty Romero and Katelyn Cortez loose on the outfield. Romero went a perfect2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Cortez went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Cortez a new career-high. Maddy Waddell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Citrus Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Hillcrest on Monday, taking the game 9-5.
Citrus Valley also got a great performance from Cali Leverette as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madison Marquez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Chloe Hearrell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Poly's record now sits at 2-0. As for Citrus Valley, their record now sits at an identical 2-0.
Poly was able to grind out a solid victory over Citrus Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poly since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
