Gulfport is 7-2 against Harrison Central since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Gulfport Admirals will head out on the road to face off against the Harrison Central Red Rebels at 7:00 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
After a string of three wins, Gulfport's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. Their tough 30-7 loss to Ocean Springs might stick with them for a while. The matchup was a close 9-7 at the break, but unfortunately for Gulfport it sure didn't stay that way.
Meanwhile, Harrison Central missed an extra point against Biloxi on Friday and it came back to haunt them. Harrison Central was just a hair shy of victory and fell 24-23 to Biloxi.
Despite their defeat, Harrison Central saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tri Gaughf, who threw for 170 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Tyree Barnett, who picked up 112 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Gulfport's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Harrison Central, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.
Gulfport was able to grind out a solid win over Harrison Central in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, winning 29-19. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gulfport since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
