Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jersey). They slipped by the Freeburg Midgets 50-49 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since December 27, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jersey to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sincere Carter, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Vogel, who put up seven points.

Despite the loss, Freeburg had strong showings from Joseph Carmack, who had 15 points, and Brady Kerr, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 12 points and five rebounds. Jay Jay Thomas also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Jersey's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Freeburg, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-3.

Looking ahead, Jersey will look to defend their home court on Friday against Civic Memorial at 7:30 p.m. The Panthers will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 57.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Freeburg, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Marion at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
