The Brackenridge Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the McCollum Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses dating back to last season for Brackenridge and three for McCollum.
Brackenridge fell victim to Sam Houston's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Hurricanes at home and fell 42-0.
Meanwhile, McCollum was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 28-24 to Jefferson.
Brackenridge's loss was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Alamo Heights and 7-1 Burbank (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.7% over those games). As for McCollum, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
Brackenridge was taken down by McCollum 45-14 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Brackenridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
