Basketball Recap: Talon Lemieux Key Part of a Team Effort in Heroes Win

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Heritage Academy Gateway's strategy against ASU Prep Poly on Thursday. The Heritage Academy Gateway Heroes blew past ASU Prep Poly 70-46. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Heroes had established a 20 point advantage.

Heritage Academy Gateway's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Talon Lemieux, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Lemieux is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games he's played. Ethan Wright was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Heritage Academy Gateway was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as ASU Prep Poly only posted nine assists.

Despite the loss, ASU Prep Poly still got an impressive performance from CJ Welcome, who went 9 of 22 on his way to 23 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Hudson, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Heritage Academy Gateway's record now sits at 5-6. As for ASU Prep Poly, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Heritage Academy Gateway wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-50 win against Premier Prep- PHHoenix on the 10th. As for ASU Prep Poly, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Heritage Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
