Silex is 0-10 against Van-Far since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Silex Owls will head out on the road to face off against the Van-Far Indians at 6:00 p.m.
Silex's recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by North Callaway on the road and fell 78-47. Silex was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-19.
Meanwhile, Van-Far waltzed into their match Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against North Callaway by a score of 64-53. Given Van-Far's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while North Callaway is ranked 414th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nikos Connaway continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with seven steals. Connaway is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Pacey Reading was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Silex's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-2. As for Van-Far, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Silex took a serious blow against Van-Far in their previous matchup back in February, falling 71-37. Can Silex avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
